Tyen Masten presented at the WOW – Work on Wood by FINSA as part of a series of conferences and workshops on Design Thinking.
As part of the larger conversation on Design Thinking, Tyen discussed how the key to unlocking innovation begins with educating a new generation of thinkers. Through education and mentorship, offices can empower creative thinkers to build more creatively, explore the unconventional, think more inclusively and design with kindness for a world of different.
But in order to make an impact on future generations we argue that the change needs to start with the architecture studio – having an office culture, company strategy and attitude that inspires people to think differently about the programme in front of them – to think about and determine different futures, tools and perspectives in order to change the way we engage with the world. It’s an approach of generosity that allows for the production of different contexts and building technologies. We are only a small piece of the puzzle, but by engaging with intent, we can inspire more to follow and have a meaningful impact on the built environment, our profession and our communities.
